The Princess

I have another post to do on my weekend trip to Philly but I'm waiting on pictures from my friend. Anyway, I thought this was cute. Tuesday morning it was freezing in our house, and Robert was out of town, so it was just Emma and me. Lately we have been sleeping with the heat pump turned way down to save electricity, and just turn the electric blanket on and we also put a quilt on top to keep us extra warm. It's nice and cozy until you have to get out of bed. That morning I got up, went downstairs to turn the heater on, and usually Emma will follow me. This time she didn't. When I got back to the bedroom, this is how I found her...

As if to say, "yeah right, I'm not getting out of this warm bed, are you crazy?"
She just might be the luckiest dog I know!!

Wintergreen Ski Trip Videos

Since Alisa posted a lot of pictures and told the story of the trip on her blog, I figured I'd just post some of the videos. Some are funny, some show how silly we are- but we had a great great time! Enjoy!

Thanksgiving week random

We had a great thanksgiving day at Norm and Cindi's- lots of food, and the pumpkin crisp was a big hit, as usual! I didn't take a lot of pictures, but here is a cute pic of Robert and me on the back deck overlooking the golf course

Last night we went to the Mueller's because everyone has been obsessed playing Rock Band (me especially!) Robert finds my fascination with it amusing, but he lets me be stupid because he thinks it's funny (I think)?? So I'm always trying to get him to play. Last night we convinced him to play the drums and I got Hank to video it with this little camcorder Robert gave me for my birthday. It's a little dark, but I think you can see most of it- and you can hear me cracking up in the background a lot- we were doing great until I got up to give Robert a kiss and unplugged my guitar, but it was still a hoot!

Since it's cold and rainy today I decided to make 2 pots of gumbo- One for us to eat today, and one pot to freeze for when we go to Wintergreen for Christmas so we don't have to eat out all week.....Mmmmm-mmmmm! is all I have to say about that.

How Sweet It Is!

Yesterday afternoon there was a note on my mailbox that a delivery had been left at my neighbor's house for me. I couldn't imagine what it was, because I knew I hadn't ordered anything lately! So I went over to my neighbor's and he gave it to me and it was an edible arrangement from Ben & Alisa and the kids for my birthday- how incredibly sweet! Thanks so much- it is DEE-LISH!!! (I would have never thought that chocolate covered apples would be so good, but they are awesome!)

Here is my latest sewing project: it's called a Sweet N Sassy drawstring purse. You are supposed to tie the string in a bow, but I knew I'd never do that, so I put a push button thingy on it instead. If I can ever find a silver one, I'll change it to match the grommets, but for now it'll do- and I've already had 2 people ask me to make them one!

This doesn't really "go" with the title of this blog, but I just remembered that maybe I should post a picture from Halloween- we went to a party, and we were going to use our pirate costumes from last year, but it was pretty cold and they are NOT warm costumes, so I decided to buy some zombie paint for myself and just wear some bloodied up scrubs. Well, as soon as Robert saw it, he decided that he wanted to be one too, so here we are as zombies/dead people? I really don't know, I don't think zombies bleed red blood, but oh well, it was last minute!

Yeah, we are a bunch of idiots- but we had so much fun putting on our makeup together! Haha...

Long Post.....lots to say

Yep, it's done! And I gave it to my beloved mom, who loved it, which made it even better. She said she has been sleeping with it every night and it will continue to be a nightly occurrence. I was happy to know that a little piece of me will be with her every night. I have been missing her terribly ever since I had to drop her off at the airport on Monday. :-(  Anyway, we had a great visit but unfortunately this was the only picture I took the entire week:

Photobucket
So besides the quilt, I have to "vent" about what has been going on and why I have been feeling so crazy lately!
Side note: this all happened in a 2 week span:
1) Robert wanted to put our house up for sale because he found another one that he thought we'd like better. We did, so our house went on the market September 29.
2) October 1st, we were being inspected (meaning the company I work for) by another company that we do business with. These are usually very stressful and since I work in Regulatory I have to be on top of my game because you never know what they're going to ask. So I am usually exhausted anyway, but no.....
3) I had to pack that night for the meeting I had in Canada, plus make sure the house was clean in case anyone wanted to see it, because Robert can't be in charge of that- seriously...
4) Left for Canada. Spent 6 days there, then on day 5, got sick and was so weak that I couldn't go to any of the seminars on the last day.
5) Got back on Oct 7 LATE, finally went to sleep at 2am on the 8th, then had to pick up my mom at 234pm that afternoon.
6) Had fun all week with mom, but still didn't get any cleaning or normal stuff done.
7) Mom left this past Monday. After I dropped her off I decided to go to work because I had a dentist appointment today and wouldn't want to have to go all the way back to Richmond today. So I picked up Jennifer for lunch, we went to Qdoba, and I figured we'd be back by 1 and I'd work till 630. We get in my car, and it won't start. Lovely. Ended up my battery had died, and I had to get a new one. (Very expensive lunch, huh?) But I got one and worked a little later so I could have off today.  And by the way, I'm still fighting this congested thing that I have- and it's disgusting.

See why I'm EXHAUSTED? So now I'm leaving to get my oil changed, tires rotated, and then bringing my snowboard to get the leash put on because we couldn't figure it out. Sometime today I really need to dust, vacuum, clean the bathrooms, and windex, but WHEN???

Trip to Montreal, Canada

I just got back from Canada last night- I had an awesome time! Well, up until two days ago when I realized I was sick (sore throat and a head cold, then I just wanted to be home in my bed) But it was wonderful to be in a predominantly French speaking city! I wish I could've stayed longer I was enjoying using my French skills and seeing all of the French culture! We saw many sights, had many nice dinners provided by vendors, went to parties, hung out near the University, saw the Basilica du Notre Dame, which was absolutely beautiful- such so that it made me cry. (it was where Celine Dion got married). Anyway, I'm glad to be back and now my mom is visiting and I'm hoping that I'll get over this head cold really soon! My favorite drink at one of the Bistros: it's called a choco-coeur

At the Haemonetics party- stilt walker

My knight in shining armor? ha

Desserts at a cafe (yes, I had to get one!)

The altar at the Basilica- it was hard to get a good picture because it was pretty dark

Outside of the Basilica at night

One night in the mall near our hotel with Melinda, Francis, Michael, and Dr. Jesse

I have plenty more pictures but they would take too long to post- but I definitely want to go back and visit without having to go for work reasons one day! :-)

Catholic Vote

I love this video. Very powerful, even if you're not Catholic, it speaks volumes....
